In a generation that has seen many companies pack up and leave the United States, a Venezuelan businesswoman is launching her lifelong dream stateside. Daniela Gomez and her husband, Harold, are opening Brightway, The Gomez Agency insurance office in Orlando September 6.

This dream of Daniela’s has been in the making her entire life. A career that began as a young college girl in Caracas, Venezuela selling auto insurance policies to her college classmates, led to more than 10,000 people following her “Millennial Boss Girl” blog devoted to operating a successful business. The blog first caught fire drawing its five-digit following on Facebook before moving to Instagram in 2020.

In 2022, her booming presence in the insurance industry is not just alive and well online, it’s now traveling to new continents. Born and raised in Venezuela, Daniela and Harold moved to Panama after college to work in insurance and banking, respectively. Just this past June, they made the move to the United States.

“Most of my family works in insurance. It’s what we know,” Daniela added. “Getting to share my experience with customers face-to-face, as well as helping people online over the years has got me to this point in my life. We are so excited about opening our Brightway office.”

After working closely with the United States Embassy in Panama for nearly a year, the couple successfully secured an Investor Visa to make the move possible. The visa allowed them to relocate to the U.S. and open their Brightway office in the Lake Nona community in South Orlando.

An estimated 140,000 employment-based immigrant visas are made available each year to those who qualify. Qualifications include everything from an extensive application process, in-person interviews, business plan presentations to detailed work site analysis before ever moving into the country. Approximately 14 percent of the U.S. population was born outside of the United States.

With a father from Colombia, a mother from Venezuela, and a career that has successfully followed her through the Americas, Daniela traces her business roots back to her days as a young girl in South America when she wanted nothing more than to be just like her mother.

“Some of my first memories are of my mother working behind her office desk in Venezuela,” Gomez said. “With both of my parents working in insurance, I’ve always had a passion for this industry.”

Daniela and Harold both hold a bachelor’s degree in economics from Andres Bello Catholic University, one of the largest colleges in Venezuela. Daniela also holds a master’s degree in microfinance from UNED in Madrid, Spain, as well as certifications from the University of San Francisco School of Management and St. Vincent College (PA). Daniela and Harold have been married for 11 years. The couple and their young daughter currently live in the Lake Nona community.
