In a March 16 statement about what Brightway was doing to help mitigate the impact of the Coronavirus, Brightway President and CEO, Michael Miller said, “In order to adhere to social distancing guidelines, we have put into place a technology plan that empowers all of our people to work remotely for the foreseeable future.”

Four days later, Brightway had leveraged its cloud-based infrastructure to deploy more than 900 people to work from home. Up until that point, the company had enough laptops for about half of the 270 employees who work at its corporate office in Jacksonville, Florida. By March 20, all corporate employees had laptops and were working safely from their homes.

During these difficult times, Brightway’s goal has remained the same: To continue to meet and exceed our franchisees, and our customers’, expectations while safeguarding the health and safety of all our employees.

Recognizing the importance of communication during a time like this, Brightway has continually updated its franchisees and has increased the frequency of its routine, system-wide calls from monthly to weekly “Burst webinars” to provide them with information that’s timely, relevant and helpful. For example, the company’s General Counsel conducted a webinar March 31 on the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and how it applies to their business. Other webinars have included “Successfully leading a remote sales team” and “Keeping the pipeline full.”

While Brightway has the benefit of being a recession-proof business, it hasn’t rested on its laurels and continues to find new ways for franchisees to grow their businesses. The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened consumers desire to re-shop their insurance policies in an already hardening market as they look to save money and ensure they have the right coverage to protect their most valuable assets
