HOUSTON, TEXAS — Houston area homeowners, renters and drivers now can experience a better way to buy insurance for their homes, valuables, vehicles and more. Veteran businessman and now Brightway Insurance Agency Owner, Ruben Tamayo, opened Brightway, The Tamayo Family Agency Thursday, June 28, in Houston. His wife, Blanca, is a Realtor and joins him in the business, providing complementary services to Homeowners and other consumers.
“Witnessing the losses suffered from Hurricane Harvey last year, we saw an immediate need for better education and counsel with regard to insurance to protect property, vehicles and contents,” said Ruben Tamayo. “We look forward to helping the community better insure their belongings, while offering expert counsel and the most choice in insurance brands.”
Ruben Tamayo comes to Brightway from Hewlett Packard, where he spent 30 years as a Procurement Manager and conducted business internationally and cross-culturally. He earned a degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico (Universidad de Guadalajara) and a Master in Business Administration from Monterrey Institute of Technology in Monterrey, Mexico. His wife of 24 years, Blanca, will focus on marketing and outreach for the agency. The Tamayos have lived in Houston nearly a decade and have two children who will join them in the family business. Daughter, Paloma, will attend Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and son, Fernando, will be a junior at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in the fall. The Tamayos are part of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Houston, through which they volunteer. After Hurricane Harvey hit last year, they delivered food to affected people in the community. Ruben also coaches youth through Destination Imagination. Both born in Mexico, the Tamayos speak fluent English and Spanish. They love travelling, staying active and running long-distance races. As a Brightway Agency Owner, Ruben looks forward to bringing more choice and customer focus to help his friends and neighbors.
“We look for business partners like the Tamayos who care deeply for their community and are thrilled to welcome them to the Brightway family,” said Brightway President, Talman Howard. “Our goal is to provide them with the tools and resources they need to grow their own Brightway enterprise.”
Brightway Agency Owners enjoy comprehensive business support including customer service, carrier relationships, marketing, accounting and technology. As a result, Brightway agencies consistently outsell other insurance agencies three-to-one.*
