WEST BLOOMFIELD, MICH. — Brightway, The Raylight Agency is pleased to congratulate Agency Principal, Alinuru Yasin, who was named Student of the Year Monday, Feb. 24, at an awards dinner held by the Financial Executives Institute Detroit Chapter. Each year, the organization recognizes outstanding students at nine universities in Southeastern Michigan. Each university selects their top undergraduate and graduate Accounting/Finance students for the honor, and Walsh University selected Yasin, who graduated Jan. 25 with a Master of Science in Finance, as its top graduate student. The dinner was held at the Shenandoah Country Club in West Bloomfield.
In introducing Yasin at the banquet, Dr. John Moore, Professor and Chair of Walsh’s Finance and Economics Program, said, “Alinuru Yasin is a student who I happened to have in class. He is graduating with his MSF (Master of Science in Finance) from Walsh College. Alinuru has worked within the Risk Management industry for a number of years. I have never engaged a student who asked better questions in the classroom than Alinuru. Alinuru tragically experienced the death of a very close family member at an early age, but one of the things that I think makes him outstanding is his optimism. He’s actually authored a book on poetry, which I’ve read. It’s pretty good. He’s actually in the process of authoring two more books right now, and he has also traveled the world in 12 different countries. I want to congratulate Alinuru.”
Selection for the award is based upon an outstanding record of scholarship and service, as well as a commitment to an Accounting/Finance career.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Walsh College and am humbled and honored to be recognized by Walsh and the Financial Executives Institute,” said Yasin. “Walsh College is an institution that values kindness, interaction and experience, and I’m grateful that Walsh has been a part of my education and personal journey.”
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Yasin was instrumental in opening a Brightway Insurance Agency in Brighton two years ago in the midst of his master’s studies. In addition to his academic successes, he has 13 years’ experience as an Insurance Agent. A native of Tanzania, Yasin speaks fluent English and Swahili. He is also a published author who enjoys writing poetry. As a Brightway Agent, he is passionate about helping his friends and neighbors get the coverage they need to protect their financial futures.
On Friday, March 13, Yasin will attend the career fair at Dearborn High School in Dearborn, to discuss career opportunities with Brightway and the insurance industry with students who want to learn more about career opportunities.
