With an original dream of being a teacher in the Keystone State, Downingtown’s Lyndsay Kahn has found herself on a lifelong journey that comes to a head in Chester County Monday.
The Chesco business pro will unlock the doors to Brightway, The Kahn Family Agency in Downingtown next week.
“I’ve always loved teaching people in ways that empowered them,” Kahn said. “It just turned out my passion to prepare people for the future didn’t happen inside a schoolhouse.”
Although she dreamt of teaching and even earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education from West Chester University, Kahn, 45, found that the kind of education she would excel at wouldn’t only help those who came her way, it would also protect their families. Earning a master’s degree in business management from Dowling University in 2005 helped Kahn lay the foundation for her career providing coverage for families in Eastern Pennsylvania.
“I spent most of my career underwriting insurance policies and serving as an insurance claims representative. Knowing the ins and outs of the business has really prepared me to help my own customers,” Kahn said of her new East Lancaster Avenue location.
The daughter of a union carpenter and a school support staffer, the 1995 Cardinal O’Hara High School (Pa.) alum has roots planted deeply in the Greater Philadelphia area. Residents of Downingtown for more than 20 years, Kahn and her husband, Matt, raise their three children here in Delaware Valley.
